Black Art is about the black experience and the desire to see it expressed in art. Art in the style of Pablo Picasso, a Spanish painter, and some of his works are referenced as subjects for potential pieces of African American Art. Just as importantly, art in the style of Jacob Lawrence, an African American painter is mentioned.  Lawrence expressed African American historical experiences and contemporary life in black art. His subjects are referenced as subjects to depict black life as it is today--Black Shoes. African American Art based on these subjects and more are, or should be, mainstays of Black Owned Clothing Companies and black art suppliers.

It's Not About the Flag

The great outcry against kneeling during the National Anthem is not about the flag. It’s about disdain for what is not “white”. It’s about not dealing with our country’s dark side of racial injustice and inequality. It’s about consenting to excessive force against people of color, especially Black America. It’s about our inability as people to truly care about what does not directly affect White America.  It’s about a lack of true humanity and compassion.
